  1. The list of almost extinct animals is frightening…so many are common ones that don’t seem in any danger. The sad thing was that there was a lot of publicity for bees, but most of it was brands capitalizing on their disappearance by selling “bee-related” merchandise.

    1. When i began to write these Animal Family Names posts I checked on various species out of curiosity. I was shocked to learn how many are threatened — or vanishing altogether. My curiosity became a check-up with each new list. In the end I wrote more than 30; they appear each week. The bees are – and remain – a big wake-up call. Without them to pollinate plants our food sources will vanish as well. All life is connected.

    1. You’re welcome. It gets discouraging to discover how many species are endangered but it sure has increased my awareness of the danger to wildlife – and to us.
